Medieval Nile Boats: Evolution and change in Nilotic Boats during Mamluk and Ottoman Egypt

There were many different boat types on the Nile during the medieval period. The variety is indicated by the large sum of different words and names of these types from the mediaeval sources.  Different types were mainly transportation, royal boats and naval boats. This talk will include a discussion about various types of Nile boats during the Mamluk and Ottoman periods.
